Philosophy

My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and inspiring learning environment where students feel empowered to explore their musical potential. I believe that music education should be both enjoyable and challenging, fostering a deep love for music while building technical skill and musical understanding.

I focus on developing a strong foundation in music theory, technique, and sight-reading, while also encouraging creativity through improvisation and performance.

Above all, I aim to cultivate a lifelong passion for music in my students, helping them to not only become skilled pianists but also to appreciate music as a form of communication, expression and purpose.

Biography

Isabel is a dedicated piano teacher with over 8 years of experience in teaching students of various ages and skill levels. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy from California State University, Fullerton studying under the tutelage of Ning An and Myong Joo Lee, where she received comprehensive training in classical piano, music theory and performance techniques. Isabel is committed to sharing this knowledge with students in a fun and engaging way.

Throughout her career, Isabel taught in various settings, including private studios, music schools, and church programs. In addition to teaching, Isabel is a frequent attendee of conferences and workshops to refine her craft and enjoys connecting with fellow piano teachers for outgrowth and resources. Isabel has given presentations on topics about playing by ear, improvisation, harmonization, and transposition to share the importance of teaching functional skills in piano lessons.

In her youth, Isabel was an active participant in many Certificate of Merit hosted competitions, festivals, and conventions. During her time at California State University, Fullerton, Isabel earned second place in the School of Music Concerto and Aria Competition.
